Le laboratoire e-Technology
The e-Technology Laboratory (eTech Lab) is an R&D laboratory specialized in ICT4D in Morocco. It is located at the School of Science and Engineering of
Alakhawayn University in Ifrane. Its research mission consist in elaborating new technology models and developing concrete applications that apply technology to enhance the daily life of Moroccans in different sectors, such as public administration, transport, tourism and education. All applications developed in the eTech Lab have a strong added value in terms of digital cultural and ICT dissemination in society. They are in line with the Moroccan government priorities in terms of human and social development.
The main research methodology that is used in the eTech is "learning by doing" where all stockholders (including citizens and decision makers) are turned into researchers too. This allows for a better appreciation and appropriation of technology as people learn in action and for their own needs, under the assistance/guidelines of the eTech Lab Researchers.
One of the main goals of the eTech lab is the elaboration of a Road map towards the massive dissemination of ICT in vital sectors of economy and administration in Morocco and the assessment of their impact on development.
The eTech lab team is composed of 3 Ph.D. Professors, 4 full time engineers, 2 full time social scientists, 8 graduate students and 4 undergraduate students.
